We passionately believe in what we do here at British School of Grooming – but it means nothing unless we’ve helped our clients to qualify and grow successful businesses. We work in collaboration with our learners so we can really understand what it is that makes them tick, and help to achieve their goals.
Here, you can read some of the feedback we have had from various learners we have had the pleasure of working alongside.
Started training at British School of Grooming with Derek it was a really flexible training to my needs, this was a complete career change for me from a high-profile regional manager across UK and Ireland, so it was an enormous change and challenge for me personally. No need to worry Derek was very aware of my requirements and we had a great rapport, all the dogs were completely different and from day one it was full-blown hands-on experience. All my expectations were met and then some…. I am now starting my own business and feeling very confident with my grooming, so far, all my customers are delighted with their dogs’ grooms, and this is a credit to Derek for being both patient and sharing his vast knowledge and skills with me.
I cannot recommend highly enough it also helps knowing he’s at the end of a phone if I need advice at any time. A massive thank you from me.
A few months ago I started my course at British School of Grooming with an amazing, patient and professional teacher Derek. I highly recommend this School if someone wants to be a professional Dog Groomer . All students can feel a friendly environment very welcoming and supportive tutoring. Also our confidence can grow every day because we can practice in different breeds. I am very grateful to find this School ! Thank you Derek you are 5 ⭐️ Teacher!
When we began our journey to build our own Dog Grooming business we didn’t know where to start, and then through volunteering at Saving Strays we were recommended to speak to Derek at British School of Grooming. His knowledge, patience and flexibility is truly wonderful and we now how an extremely successful business. Extras that you get with this qualification such as a Marketing Introduction on how to generate customers, how to Sell yourself to your clients and how to retain custom. We learned so very much and it was truly a wonderful experience. Thank you, Derek, and BSG for your support in building our very own Dog Grooming Business.
Prior to becoming a dog groomer, I had worked in marketing for twenty-seven years, so I knew how to market a business and review the demand, but this was a whole new challenge.
I had been thinking of a career change for a few years and had investigated various training courses/occupational paths with the focus on working for myself.
I absolutely love animals, particularly dogs – I had always had a family pet growing up and am the proud owner of an adorable little maltipoo. The grooming salon where I used to take Bailey was always booked up six weeks in advance, so I knew that good groomers were in demand.
When the opportunity arose for me to use an outbuilding at my parents’ home, I jumped at the chance to renovate it into a grooming salon. I began to research dog grooming courses and after completing a form online and speaking to Derek, I knew that British School of Grooming was the right course for me.
The online learning and coursework were very well thought out and easy to do. The practical sessions were amazing, and we always have a huge variety of dogs to groom.
So, my advice to anyone thinking about becoming a dog groomer is – from one dog lover to another, we all know how much we adore our pets, so with this awareness and the excellent training provided from British School of Grooming, along with your personal commitment, hard work and a passion to succeed, you can be as successful as I have been.
Once you have a client base and word gets around, your reputation will grow, and you’ll be set up for life!
A huge Thank you to Derek and the British School of Grooming Team for your support. It’s never too late for a career change!
A brilliant haircut for both my dogs. Super clean and soft. Just the right of hair removed at this time of year. A great service all round and would highly recommend
British School of Grooming were fantastic with my foster puppy. She us a JRT and is very wriggly and squirmy. lol. The students who groomed her were calm and patient with her as it was her first time. Very professional, obviously well taught! Many thanks to all at BSG.
I took Tilly my 2 year old border terrier. She had been hand stripped elsewhere in the past and the result had been far from acceptable, so I was a little anxious at leaving her.
My concerns were listened to and all my worries were laid to rest. She couldn’t have been treated better. I was delighted with how she looked and she will be booked back in very soon.
My cocker spaniel, Paddy, is nervous at the groomers but Derek and his students reassured him and built his confidence. The finished look was very smart and ideal to help keep him clean and tidy through the muddy winter months.
Our girl had a full groom & she looks beautiful 5 stars to the groomer & trainer. As if we couldn’t kiss & cuddle her anymore, super soft & cuddly. Thankyou x
I took my Working Cocker Spaniel puppy to Derek and the team at British School of Grooming when he was 6 months old. I wanted to do this to get him used to the process as part of his crucial socialisation phase and we couldn’t have picked a better place!
Derek is so warm and friendly with every dog (and human) he meets, after a 10 minute chat and consultation with us, Derek interacted with Bennie too throughout whilst I filled in the paperwork- without hesitation Bennie followed him right in when the time came to leave him, the trust was there immediately.
I didn’t know what style I wanted with him but Derek was very knowledgeable with his suggestions and options for him resulting in a lovely smelling dog and with beautifully soft coat and thorough trim.
Since the initial groom I have returned to Derek who gave me coat brushing advice to ensure Bennies groom is kept lovely… hardest part now is the keep him out of the mud!!!!
Thanks so much Derek!
